Well, the Krytans do have a small matter of regime change to handle first.

Anyone who finishes the campaign can inflict death to the White Mantle. I think the Lionguard lacks the necessary power to push these 'intruders' out of kryta.

Personally, if I were the leader of the newly empowered Lionguard, I would negotiate rent payments, and let them stay.

I wonder when the dwarves come to holidays to the hot beaches of Kryta.

I think the reason for the Ascalon, Luxon, and Kurzick settlements is that (going with the storyline) the lionguard, getting tired of the white mantle taking over allowed the people to settle in hope to gain a 4 to 1 advantage over the white mantle, In fact I wouldn't doubt that contracts between Liongaurd/Kyrta-Ascalon/luxon/kurzick state that they were to help suport a war between Lionguard vs Mantle, however these (CAUTION SPOILERS) were spoiled by us who defeated the mantle, so the Lionguard Now Kryta itself is stuck with these intruders, but thankfully they have the Ascalonians (leaving out us)and so eventually its gonna be (Luxon Vs Kurzick)vs an Ally'd Ascalon/Kryta in which the Canthans will be to smugg and stupid to learn to stand together before the Ally'd Ascy/Kryta push them both out while there both fighting each other, and in thanks Kryta will send men to Ascalon to help rebuild, and thus the united Ascalon/Kryta both win, Kryta gets rid of all 3 "settlements" and Ascalon gets help rebuilding.

sorry I ramble

I imagine the settlements are there so that players that begin chapter 2 will be able to return to Tyria from Cantha to participate in quests there after they select a faction, or something, in the Factions campaign.

I'm sure they want to give us some reason to return.

With the Ascalon settlement already in this area, is this going to be the Krytan ghetto?

As far as I can tell ettin farming hasn't been affected by this latest update.
The quest seems to be removed but as long as you havent completed the quest yet, the quest will still remain active on your quest list and the quest mobs will still spawn. Gotten my Sup Vigor Rune from one of the Ettins in the luxon encampment Btw there wasnt any luxons there and where have all the tengu gone its like they all dissappeared.

I notice that the ettins will attack and kill the tengu. Fun to watch, and for solo farming you don't have to worry about the tengu. Just wipe out the ettins after they do that bit of work for you. Have also gotten a few rune drops from those ettins.

Personally I think its funny to walk the green fields of Kryta and see a giant turtle sitting in the grass (Just dont go to the luxon camp if you have the ascalon encampment titan quest. You might die as the titans are all over the place in that area ).

Like people have said, its probably just trying to bridge the gap between factions and prophecies. Plus it makes sense having them there since ANet said Lions Arch would be the place where Tyria based characters could go to Cantha (at least for missions).

Will there be a Tyrian (Ascalon/Krytan) encampment in Cantha?

I'm getting ever more confused. I have a character who accepted the Luxon Settlement quest. He never did. It is now listed as "Completed -- go get the reward" on his quest log. But the enemy ettins are most definitely still there.

I guess going and chatting with Lionguard Niero would be a bad idea if I ever want to farm those ettins with my Level 14 MM in AL 30 armor ...

There is now 2 new quests in LA called "can't we get along" or something like that for more faction points and exp of 2.5k. Pretty easy, just have to go talk to the 2 leaders in the settlements.

Quests are still there and active. Got them for the first time tonight and completed both inside of ten minutes or so. Easy 5k xp.

The plot thickens.
Seems like that remark turned out to be truth. Indeed, the two factions have begun to battle.

I see there is another thread started dealing with today's update and the new quests.

Just wondering if more new quests will be added before release of Factions. Seems like we keep getting oportunities to earn more faction points, and experience.
